My dad had been involved in the Boys and Girls Club of Adams County for many years and helped build the Decatur Club where it is today. Watching his heart for the communities' youth, I joined the Board of Directors in the late 1990s. At the time, I was a paralegal in Fort Wayne. My dad became ill, so I joined the family business in Decatur. I was still able to stay connected to the club through fundraising events. When my son was in kindergarten, I started volunteering at the school. I remained in Mrs. Miller's class for 10 more years volunteering because I had a heart to help the kids with their school work and school activities. A few years ago, John Kintz approached me and asked if I would return to the Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors. Immediately I knew it was the right time to return. This led me to being hired as the Resource of Development Director to head our fundraisers and be involved in our annual campaign. I do it because of my passion, as well as my dad and moms, to help the youth of our community by being a place to meet new friends, to have someone to listen to them, and most importantly to be a place that is a role model for them.
